Wildwood Park
Discovery School

Welcome to Wildwood Park Discovery School!

Wildwood Park Discovery School is a small, family-centered homestead and nature-based preschool rooted in Waldorf and Charlotte Mason principles. Our days are intentionally designed around outdoor discovery, natural artistry, cultural music and movement, imaginative play and storytelling, and the nurturing of empathy and compassion—all with a strong, hands-on emphasis on Life Cycle science.

In addition to our on-site gardens and homestead environment, children enjoy frequent adventure outings to nearby nature spaces including Wildwood Park, where learning comes alive through exploration, observation, and movement in the natural world.

We serve children ages 2–6 in our preschool, date-night, and Saturday care programs, with a summer camp program for ages 18 months–8 years. Our mixed-age model supports leadership, collaboration, and social growth in a warm, family-style setting. Children receive ample outdoor time, rich arts and crafts experiences (watercolor, clay, yarn, canvas, rocks, glass), music and movement, early language and reading support, fine and gross motor development, gardening, cooking, and kindergarten readiness activities. Our curriculum is nature-based and thoughtfully guided by featuring programs such as but not limited to: BEarth Institute (Waldorf) and Blossom & Root Early Years (Charlotte Mason & Waldorf), using natural toys made from wood, wool, and plant materials, etc.

A defining focus of our program is Life Cycles. Each month we design workbooks and projects that are sent home at the end of the month as children dive into an immersive, hands-on theme—such as puppies, bees, butterflies, tadpoles, plants, and more—using age-appropriate materials and real-world experiences. Children dig their hands into the soil, care for animals like chickens, baby chicks in the spring, and Olde English Babydoll Southdown sheep (coming this Spring!), cultivate and tend gardens, explore science through cooking projects, and create art inspired by stories and nature.

We believe the early years are foundational, and by fostering curiosity, creativity, and connection to the living world, we help children build strong roots for lifelong learning.

Wildwood Park Discovery School is a City-Licensed Family Child Care Home located in a safe residential neighborhood in Puyallup, featuring a fully fenced and secure yard. We are licensed to care for up to 12 children per session and work closely with DCYF (Department of Children, Youth & Family Services) to ensure ongoing compliance with state and city regulations.

Our program also includes organic, hormone-free meals and snacks; plant-based, fragrance-free diapers and wipes; toothbrushes and fluoride-free toothpaste; toxin-free cleaning practices; enhanced safety measures; and real-time updates for families through the Brightwheel app.

Building strong roots today creates confident, capable learners for tomorrow.

We invite you to join our Wildwood family and grow with us!

Happy Saplings

This school was actually a life changing. We enrolled our son who had developmental delays and he loved it so much. Amber was so gentle with him. We struggled potty training for so long but she made it so easy for him. Highly highly recommend this school. Amber is really a God sent.
